Thiz

Yesterday was a very cultured day. Taso took Jess, Niki, and I to a Greek festival where we met up with his family, who is Greek! Everything was decked out in blue and white, the church was beautiful, and the crowds were big.
Three things stood out to me as outstanding. One was the food. Taso's family was super generous and bought us a huge dinner and dessert. My favorite was the Spinach Spanakopita and the Loukoumades. Spinach Spanakopita has a flaky dough that wraps around spinach and other yumminess. Loukoumades are best described as deep-fried donuts dipped in honey, cinnamon sugar, and sometimes Nutella.
Two was the music. It reminded me of my love for Gypsy music and had a much different sound than any music I listen too. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and different couples danced before a group of little kids dressed in traditional Greek dress danced for all of us. There was one who didn't seem to like the traditional sound...

Three is the new addition to the family, Thiz. Taso's brother Nick won a goldfish for us and Jess and I decided to call him Thiz because he has a permanent thiz face.

Although Thiz was only adopted last night, he is very close to our hearts because of the traumatic experience that occurred this morning. As Jess was putting clean water in his bowl, Thiz leaped out landing in the window sill. Jess yelled, so I jumped up seeing our poor friend stuck on dry land. My first instinct was to leave him for dead, but Jess insisted otherwise. Eventually I successfully fished him out with a pen and pen top and he seems just dandy now. Although, I think the trauma of the morning caused him to lose his appetite. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for Thiz.
